Dark circles can be caused by many reasons due to, lack of sleep, long history of over-exfoliation, or even pregnancy.
A good skin routine can help reduce the appearance of skin blemishes such as dark circles. One way to do so is to use very good eye creams. They aren’t the most effective way to quicker results, but they certainly reduce the pigmentation around the eyes over time.
We have tried several eye creams over the years and our personal favorite has been The clinique better eyes dark circle corrector eye cream and Murad environmental shield. Cream so far. They work perfectly on our sensitive skin and we have both seen better results.
It’s always advisable to choose eye creams that are very moisturizing especially for those with dry under-eyes. If you’re always using makeup your best bet is to heed my advice. The last thing you want is to end up looking cakey. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
SPF protection.
Sun damage can dangerously affect the eyes. Using SPF that contains zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide doesn’t irritate the eyes.
Research suggests that choosing SPF above 30+ provides better protection from sun damage. The protection it provides defends our skin from damages like wrinkles and overproduction of melanin caused by UV rays.
Color correction.
A fundamental aspect of makeup is colour correction. What’s that’s? We’ll explain. The logic behind colour correction is being able to use certain colours to mask out the appearance of another colour.
Colour correctors vary for different skin types but some colors like orange and peach correctors have proven to work better on all skin types. They Seem to do a great job considering how budget-friendly they are.
Conceal, conceal, conceal!!!
Using concealer is the holy grail for hiding dark circles. First, you need to find the right concealer to do this correctly. Some of our all time-tried and true concealers are:
Some hacks you can use to up your concealer games is to always create an inverted triangle using the product. You can extend the product if you’re looking to extend the highlight to areas around your undereye. Although we highly recommend that, you focus a good amount of the product on your under-eyes for better results.
Blending is crucial! One hack for this is to use dabbing motions for concealer placement to keep the product in place. Do it right and you won’t regret it.
Pro tip: remember to use products lightly, and blend out your inner corners before setting your face.
Get the right foundation.
A foundation too light for your skin tone never looks good. Trust me we are saying this out of our experience. We have been there before, gone are those days honey!
For everyday makeup, a lightweight foundation is enough. For dark circles, you can conceal before applying your foundation and highlight afterward. The trick is to apply your foundation in layers it gives you more control over the number of products to use on your face.
Ps: for beginners dab your foundation on your face not swipe.
Never sleep with makeup on.
This is more of an advice than a hack. Sleeping with makeup on does more damage than good. Roughens the appearance of the skin, causes irritation to the skin, and increases your chances of dark circles.
Can’t remember how many times we have preached this message.
Bonus tip.
Although some of the life-saving hacks shared with you today is directly connected to makeup application.
We would like to add that overall beauty is not entirely centered on makeup application. So many external factors can improve the outcome of makeup application.
